Mark Thompson is a computer engineer and visual creator leading The Big Machine Studios, where advanced technology and digital artistry converge. His expertise spans 3D graphics, computer vision, machine and deep learning, real-time rendering, and platform engineering. Alongside his work in data science and engineered systems, he maintains a strong creative practice in digital art, animation, and visual design.

Mark has directed and produced visuals for video games, television, film, and interactive experiences, bringing a deeply technical approach to every stage of production. His recent projects include large-format 3D re-projection for ultra-high-resolution digital billboards and the integration of generative AI models into next-generation content pipelines.

This site is dedicated to my father, Frank Thompson Jr, who pushed me to pursue engineering over art because the latter had given him so much financial heartache. An extraordinarily talented artist, his work spanned fine art, sculpture, stained glass, photography, greeting cards, and advertising. He studied at the Art Institute of Chicago and drew inspiration from the works of Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dali, and Gyuri Lohmuller. A selection of his paintings can be viewed here.
