Ensuring No Child Goes Hungry

This past year, the demand for the Denise Aussant Taylor food pantry more than doubled from last year alone. This past fiscal year, this pantry alone served over 3000 individuals with over 50% of those children. Over 1200 requests for food assistance was received during this time period. 423 families requesting assistance receive some level of food stamp assistance.

The typical client requesting assistance with food is a single white mother with two children earning a monthly wage of under $700.

This pantry provides nonperishable food items and personal products such as diapers, detergent and soap, which cannot be purchased with food stamps. At certain times of the year, we do offer frozen meats such as; turkeys, chicken, Hamburg when funds allow. We also offer nutritional information and specialty bags of food for diabetic and special diet needs. The majority of the food pantry contributions are received through local religious groups, individuals, schools and corporations.
